Add Dashboard Tabs
Dashboard tabs in Emburse Analytics let you group related visualizations and detail reports on one dashboard. Users can start with overview metrics on the first tab, then open focused tabs for deeper analysis without opening multiple dashboards or scrolling through a long page.
Tabs also reduce initial load time because tiles load when a user selects the related tab.
Who Can Add Dashboard Tabs
Creators can add tabs by copying a standard Emburse dashboard and editing the copy.
Emburse Analytics Pro Creators can also add tabs to custom dashboards in your company folder.
For user types and permissions, see Emburse Analytics User Types And Roles.
Why Use Dashboard Tabs
Dashboard tabs help you guide users from high-level totals to the detail that explains spending patterns. Instead of scrolling through one long page or opening multiple dashboards, you can group related views on separate tabs that share the same filters.
On the standard Expense Spend dashboard, tabs organize processed expense exports into focused views:
Spend Overview: Total exported spend, report count, expense owner count, average days to export, and spend by export month.
Monthly Trends: Month-over-month patterns for trend analysis.
Year Over Year Comparisons: Current-period spend compared to prior years.
On the Spend Overview tab, users review totals first, then select another tab when they need trend or comparison detail. Filters like export date and expense type apply across tabs so results stay consistent as users move through the dashboard.
Add Tabs to a Custom Dashboard
Emburse Analytics Pro Creators can add tabs directly to a custom dashboard in the Personal or Organizational folder.
Open the custom dashboard from your company folder. For folder access, see Folder Contents and Access .
Select the dashboard More Actions menu, then select Edit Dashboard.
In the edit bar, select Add, then select Tabs.
Select the tab name and enter a descriptive name that clarifies the tab's purpose.
To add new tiles, select Add. To move existing tiles to the appropriate tab, see Move Tiles Between Tabs, below.
Select Save after you finish the layout.
Add Tabs to a Copied Standard Dashboard
Creators cannot edit standard Emburse dashboards directly. Copy a standard dashboard to your Personal or Organizational folder, then add tabs to the copy.
Open the standard dashboard that is closest to the analysis you want and select More Options.
Select Copy.
Select the destination folder in your Personal or Organizational folder, then select COPY HERE.
Open the copied dashboard from the selected folder.
In the More Options menu, select Edit Dashboard.
Select Add > Tabs.
Select the tab name and enter a descriptive name that clarifies the tab's purpose.
To add new tiles, select Add. To move existing tiles to the appropriate tab, see Move Tiles Between Tabs, below.
Select Save after you finish the layout.
Move Tiles Between Tabs
You do not need to rebuild existing tiles. Use Move to tab to place a graph, table, or detail tile on another tab.
Open the tab that currently contains the tile.
Hover over the tile's top-right corner and select More Actions.
Select Move to tab, then select the destination tab.
Open the destination tab and, if necessary, use the drag handle to move the tile to the desired location.
Use Filters Across Tabs
Dashboard filters can update tiles on more than one tab when you map each filter to the related tiles.
If a filter does not apply to any tile on a tab, Emburse Analytics hides the filter on that tab.
The simplest setup uses related data and consistent fields across tabs.
If tiles use different Explores, validate the field mapping. Do not assume one filter can update every tile.
Test each tab before you save so users see consistent results as they move through the dashboard.
For filter setup steps, see Add a Dashboard Filter.
Dashboard Tab Scope and Behavior
You cannot edit standard dashboards: Copy a standard dashboard to a company folder to add tabs. Emburse Analytics Pro Creators can also add tabs to custom dashboards.
Copied dashboards stay separate: Your changes do not update the original standard dashboard, and future Emburse updates to the standard dashboard do not automatically flow into your copy.
You set access at the dashboard level: You cannot assign different user access to individual tabs.
The dashboard uses one theme: You cannot assign different themes to individual tabs. For more information, see Change Dashboard Colors.
Five-tab default: Each dashboard supports five tabs by default.
Tabs load on demand: Tiles load when a user selects the tab.
